A Positive Voice Working for the Community in:
I have worked with Irish Water to highlight “Think before You Flush” concerning the damage caused by wipes on our coasts. To retain blue flag status for Salthill and Silverstrand beaches, we must do more to educate on waste disposal.
I support improved powers for community wardens to tackle dog fouling, illegal dumping, noise pollution and anti-social behaviour in our playgrounds and parks. Each district needs a dedicated warden. My campaign continues to establish a Bring Centre on the western side of the city, similar to the facility in Liosbán. I secured the reinstallation of CCTV at the Western Distributor Road bottle bank to tackle illegal dumping.
I also support the Cycle Bus in our community and the need for safer bike lanes across Knocknacarra and Salthill. Developing the Galway to Barna greenway and the Connemara Greenway will benefit the region.
As Chairperson of Tidy Towns I am proud to boast two bronzes and recently a silver award within three years. We must support the volunteers who make this possible and benefit our community.
Climate Change is the single biggest threat facing society; rising tides, intense storms and water shortages are all potential issues. Flood defence measures identified by CFRAM in the city centre and Salthill need to be developed. Our City Climate Change Strategy needs to be fully supported at local and national Government level.
I will continue to work on and promote the “Think before You Flush” campaign.
I propose an increase of powers for community wardens to tackle dog fouling as well as other issues such as illegal dumping, noise pollution and anti social behaviour in our playgrounds and parks.
I am campaigning for a Bring Centre west of the City.
I fully support the Galway to Barna Greenway, the Connemara Greenway and the Cycle Bus in our community. We need safer bike lanes across Knocknacarra and Salthill.
I am working on an environmental survey mapping Cappagh park.
Climate Change is the single biggest threat facing society. Our City Climate Change Strategy needs to be fully supported at local and national Government level and flood defenses installed.
