A Positive Voice Working for the Community in:
Health and activity
I will continue to use the council to highlight the mental health needs of our community. Policy for an Age, Youth and Disability friendly city must be maintained through membership of the Healthy Cities initiative.
I stand by the Galway Hospice in its search for a new home.
Following my involvement in the previous Galway Alcohol Strategy, I fully support the new strategy which needs immediate implementation.
The outdoor exercise gyms I put in place in Toft Park, Cappagh Park and Kingston should be replicated across the city, and an outdoor bowls facility provided in Salthill.
The management of Knocknacarra Community centre to be operated by a community co-op to ensure the licensing of pitches be weighted in favour of local sports clubs. I am working with NUIG’s Insight Centre for an environmental survey of Cappagh Park.
I will continue to work on the development of an all-weather hockey pitch be delivered as per the City Development Plan.
